GTA IV is better than GTA V

Comparison about gameplay value, not realism. Physics, gunfight, AI, melee combat, controls, interiors, multiplayer freedom. While GTA V has some obvious advantages from being a 2013 game, a lot of technical features and sandbox elements from GTA IV (2008) were missing such as crouch ability, holding onto ledges, picking up objects and much more. Those changes reduced all the unpredictable fun and made it an experience with less replay value.
No mods were used, this is the original version of both games on PC. Cheats were used at some point for demonstration purpose but every comparisons are fair to each other.

  1. In fact The Combat In gta iv is so realistic that you could use it as a Manual for knife attaks or streetfighting. Nico has some good Technics. Just Look at Franklin in GTA v He is punching so slow even i could Beat him

  2. It's funny…
GTA V has more polish and refinement in its core gameplay, the missions are nowhere near as repetitive, it brought back content that fans wanted and it runs absolutely smooth compared to GTA IV's trainwreck of a port…and yet, in spite of all the many annoying problems GTA IV has, it's still a much more enjoyable experience than GTA V. There's just something i can't put my finger on…

Actually, I know what it is: GTA V's problem is that it's mean-spirited and down-right unpleasant, from the game world to the characters and story — it doesn't want you to enjoy it or immerse yourself in it. GTA IV might've felt depressing at times but it never resorted to nastiness or hypocrisy the way GTA V constantly flip-flops between satire and straight-faced attempts at drama regarding characters you couldn't be bothered to give a shit about.

  3. Gta 5 npcs are so damn aggressive while gta 4 npcs are so natural. That’s the thing in gta 5 the world revolves around you but in gta 4 you actually feel part of the world. Like here 4:58 holy shit this is what I’m talking about. You’re getting chased by 3 cops and in the background there’s cars crashing that your didn’t even cause. I’ve idled in gta 4 and I’ve seen people get run over, street fights, cops chasing people etc. It’s crazy how good the npcs were

  4. Idk how to explain it but GTA 5 physics feel…stiff. GTA 4 just feels like so good and it flows. Specially with weapons. In GTA 5 it feels like the weapons arnt doing damage and you’re shooting nerf darts, but in GTA 4 weapons are impactful and realistically move bodies and body parts. Hard to explain

  5. I found it amusing how GTA V is set in a psuedo California which is rumored as being more chill and GTA IV is set in psuedo New York which is rumored as being more hostile yet the games got it backwards.
